There was a large attendance at the Regional HQ in Galway on Thursday the 4th of April 2024, to celebrate with Superintendent Sean Glynn, who retired from An Garda Siochana after 39 Years of loyal and dedicated service.  The Association would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sean and we wish him and his family a very happy and healthy retirement.  Pictured with Sean are NEC members Superintendent Seamus Boyle & Superintendent Pat O’Connell.

An Event to celebrate the retirement of Detective Superintendent Eugene Lynch was held at The Wet Canteen at Garda Headquarters on the 24th November, 2023.  A presentation was made to Eugene on behalf of the Association by President Seamus Nolan and CEC member Mick Flynn.  We wish Eugene all the best in the future.

Superintendent Joanne O’Brien – Women in Policing Network – IMI 30% Mentoring Programme

Superintendent Joanne O’Brien (center of the photograph), Performance Assurance Functional Area, Limerick is Chairperson of the Southern Region Women’s Network,

As part of the Irish Management Institute  (IMI) 30%  Mentoring Programme Joanne participated in the ARYZTA Ireland & UK Female Leadership Network where she engaged as the keynote speaker with the ‘Taking the Lead’ event at the IMI on the 28th November 2023.

Joanne discussed her career in policing with a particular emphasis on mentoring and maximisation of abilities to develop colleagues and other females. It was a hugely successful occasion with particular interest in Joanne’s presentation and  whose involvement was the highlight of the event. It generated much positive engagement and audience participation in addition to being a ringing endorsement of An Garda Siochána.

Retirement of Superintendent Tony Twomey on 27th March 2023

Superintendent Tony Twomey marked his retirement with a function held in Westmanstown in March.  Tony was a member of the National Executive and a strong voice for the DMR Branch.   A presentation was made to Tony on behalf of the Association.  Best wishes to Tony and his Family in his next chapter.

Superintendent Gerard O’Mahoney’s retirement was marked with a function in the Clonakilty Park Hotel, Clonakilty, Co. Cork on the 10th November 2023
Ger served in Clonakilty as the District Officer and Community Engagement Superintendent for a number of years up to his retirement.  A presentation was made to Ger on behlaf of the association by President Seamus Nolan.  We wish him well in his retirement.
